Privacy and cookies
Last updated 18 October 2026
Coxhead Wines Limited runs coxheadwines.co.nz. This page explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it and what you can do about it. We follow the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
Who we are
Coxhead Wines Limited, Rotorua, New Zealand. Our privacy officer is Aaron Coxhead. You can reach him at aaron@coxheadwines.co.nz.
What we collect
- Founding Members: your email address and, if you give it, your first name. We also record when you joined and which form you used.
- Tasting requests from venues: your venue name, your name and email, and your phone number and message if you add them.
- Trade account applications: business name, contact name, email, phone (optional), liquor licence number, delivery address and a password. Passwords are stored in scrambled (hashed) form, so we can't see them. If your account is approved, we also keep your orders.
- Emails you send us.
We don't collect payment card details. Online sales aren't open yet. Before they open, we'll update this page to explain how checkout and payments work.
Why we collect it
- To send Founding Members emails about our wines, the launch, first access and invitations.
- To reply to tasting requests, and to run trade accounts and orders.
- To meet our legal obligations, including alcohol licensing and tax rules.
We only ask for what we need. Fields marked optional really are optional.
Emails
You only get marketing emails from us if you've signed up for them. Every email has an unsubscribe link. Once you use it, we stop sending you marketing emails.
Who we share it with
We don't sell or rent your information. We use these service providers to run the site, and they hold information for us:
- Lovable, for website hosting and our database.
- Klaviyo, for sending emails and for alerting us when a venue asks for a tasting.
- Google Fonts, which supplies the site's fonts. When a page loads, your browser requests the fonts from Google, so Google sees your IP address.
Some of these providers may store information outside New Zealand, including in the United States. We only use them to provide their services to us. We may also disclose information when the law requires it.
Cookies and visit statistics
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't run Google Analytics, the Meta Pixel or similar trackers.
Our website host records basic visit statistics, such as the pages viewed, the site that sent you here, your device type and your country. We use these only to see how the site is doing.
Your browser stores a few small things on your own device so the site works:
- your answer to the age check, cleared when you close the browser
- what's in your cart
- your sign-in, if you have a trade account.
None of these are used to track you. You can clear them at any time in your browser settings. If we ever add trackers, we'll update this page first.
How long we keep it
We keep Founding Member details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. We keep tasting requests and trade records for as long as we're working together, and business records for as long as tax and licensing law requires.
Keeping it safe
Your information is stored with the providers above. Access is limited to us and to them, and our admin pages are protected by a sign-in. If a privacy breach is likely to cause anyone serious harm, we'll tell the people affected and the Privacy Commissioner.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email aaron@coxheadwines.co.nz and we'll respond within 20 working days. If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz (opens in a new tab).
Under 18s
This site is for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we find we have, we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top. See also our terms and delivery and returns.
